SOCIAL PROJECT
THE SOCIAL DIMENSION IS ONE OF THE ASPECTS OF BGREEN // ECOLOGICAL FILM FESTIVAL
Following the premise Think Globally, Act Locally, Bgreen intends to go into the field to improve the living conditions of the local community.
SOCIAL PROJECT composed of students, volunteers, from the festival's organizing school, who develop awareness and intervention actions related to the environment among disadvantaged populations in the region.
To this end, the actions are carried out in close partnership with the Municipalities of Santo Tirso and of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
With this project, besides putting into practice the environmental, pedagogical and solidarity principles that the festival defends, we are also contributing to the development of young people as people, instilling in them values such as respect for others, equality, commitment and responsibility, which are inherent to the educational project of OFICINA – Escola Profissional do Instituto Nun’Alvres.

EVENTS
Beach Cleaning
Beach cleaning consists in the gathering and separation of garbage found on a beach that
was selected for intervention.
The activity is also a moment of socialization and contact with nature. For the development
of this initiative we counted on the precious support from the municipality of Póvoa de
Varzim.
Tree plantation
Participating in the plantation and maintenance of native tree species is one of the initiatives that Bgreen’s Social Project adhered to from the 1st edition. Throughout the several editions, Bgreen’s social Project has collaborated with “The Future - 100.000 Trees Project, in the Porto metropolitan area, namely in the process of reforestation of Monte Padrão in the Municipality of Santo Tirso and “30 thousands trees for 2030” from the city council of Vila Nova de Famalicão which aims to reforest its municipality.
Native Seed Balls
The Social Project intends to create, in each of our volunteers, multiplying agents that will, in
the present and the future,
transmit the environmental and solidarity values that Bgreen and Oficina defend.
With the Scorched Land Movement it was possible to promote training for our volunteers on seed balls of native tree species as a way to promote reforestation. The objective was that,
at the end of the training, the volunteers would be able to teach others, namely children and
youngsters.
Street actions
In the cities of Santo Tirso and Vila Nova de Famalicão, there has been the promotion of street events in which the students from Oficina hand out pamphlets and interact with passersby addressing several environmental sustainability issues such as recycling and water and energy saving.
Workshops
Several workshops have been held on various topics:
- Manufacture of handmade soap from used cooking oil;
- Cultivation of aromatic herbs, in reduced spaces with resource to plastic bottles and jugs as support;
- Production of natural cosmetics from home products;
- Making of seed balls to enable reforestation of native species in areas with difficult access;
“How to create a video VIDEO SPOT on the environment?"
Workshops in schools from the region for students of the 3rd cycle and secondary education where a set of content that enables students to develop their video spots and realize their ideas are transmitted.
The target audiences have been very broad: Pre-school and 1st and 2nd grade children, people with disabilities and long-term unemployed adults.
