It was with great professionalism that the award ceremony of the 4th edition of the bgreen // ecological film festival took place, an event promoted by OFICINA – INA’s Professional School. The ceremony was held in the lovely Cultural Nave of the Fábrica de Santo Thyrso on June 6 with the valuable collaboration of the municipality of Santo Tirso.
This initiative marked the conclusion of a project that took several months in the making. Its general aim was to call young people’s attention to the respect we all should have for Mother Nature, making them aware of the importance of responsible environmental practices.
This year’s edition was, once again, characterized by the project’s international reach, clearly visible via the participation of students from European countries such as Spain, France, Norway, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Croatia.
Throughout the ceremony, 42 preselected video spots were presented. These spots were competing for the following categories: bgreen // ecological film festival grand prize, honorable mention, best message, best making-of, people’s choice and Alphonse Luisier award.
The event was attended by students and teachers from several participating schools as well as representatives of the project’s official partners: BES, Quercus, the Regional Government of the Azores, The Portuguese Environment Agency and the municipalities of Santo Tirso and Vila nova de Famalicão.
The ceremony also featured two musical appearances of the Portuguese band “Cabaret Fortuna”, a familiar presence in the school’s festivities that liven up the audience with their energy and good music.
The official website of the festival broadcast the whole ceremony live for all those who couldn’t attend the event in loco.
The bgreen // ecological film festival grand prize was awarded, for the second year in a row, to a Norwegian school with the spot “Global Warning”, produced by a group of students from Ole Vig Videregående Skole and was handed to the winners by the Mayor of Santo Tirso, Joaquim Couto.
The lucky winners will have the opportunity to enjoy an EcoAdventure trip to the idyllic island of S. Miguel in the Azores where they can experience nature at its best.
Meanwhile, you can get to know all the award winners and remember the best moments of the event in the photo gallery.
Bgreen is grateful to all who followed us throughout this 4th edition as our success is also due to you and eagerly awaits your dedication and presence in the 5th edition.
Thank you all and see you in 2015 in the next edition of the bgreen // ecological film festival.
